I obtained my Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D) from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology (CSOPP).
I also have a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from CSOPP. I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Michigan. Overall, I have been licensed as a psychologist since 2011, and specifically licensed in the state of Michigan since 2018. Prior to pursuing my graduate studies, I attended the University of Detroit Mercy for my undergraduate degree in Psychology. Go Titans!
My therapeutic approach is multi-pronged. I recognize and honor individuals' social identities in the therapeutic space while also honoring my own social identities and how I view the therapeutic process and world. I create a nonjudgmental environment where individuals are able to share their stories and receive support, validation, or an alternate viewpoint, to help them reach their goals. When working with me, please know that I take a collaborative approach. While I have clinical knowledge to apply to our work together you are the expert in your journey. Part of the care I provide includes engaging in collaborative care with your other providers such as primary care doctors or psychiatrists if you are agreeable to this.
I do not engage in one size fits all therapy. I work with clients to find the best approach to meet their needs. Part of what I offer is practicing cultural competence. I gravitate towards a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Humanistic/Existential practices. I practice from a place of authenticity and am aware of what I do well and what I do not do well. Everyone deserves to be a with a therapist with whom they feel comfortable. With that said, if I don't believe we are a good fit, I don't believe in wasting your time, and will tell you why I don't think we are good fit and do my best to direct you to a therapist who would be better able to assist you. If you do not feel that we are a good fit, then I invite you to share that and I will work to assist you in finding another therapist.
Clinical areas of focus: anxiety, depression, postpartum and perinatal anxiety and depression, navigating work related stressors including racial trauma experienced in work environments and elsewhere, general adjustments and transitions, post divorce adjustments, and general life stressors.
Populations of interest: I am open to working with anyone who believes we would be a good fit. I have particular interests in working with individuals from marginalized social identities (ex: BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ communities).
